Akpabio swears in former Minister Lalong as Senator

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has sworn in the former governor of Plateau State and immediate past minister of labour and employment, Mr Simon Lalong, as senator representing Plateau South under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Lalong who took the oath of office on Wednesday is replacing Senator Napoleon Binkap Bali of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who was removed by the Appeal Court.

Mr Lalong officially resigned from the Federal Executive Council as a minister on Tuesday, December 19.

The oath of office and allegiance was administered on Lalong by Clerk of the Senate, Mr.

Chinedu Akubueze on the directives of the Senate President.

Speaking with newsmen after the oath of office, the new Senator assured his people that he would not fail them, as he had never done, even as a member, Plateau State House of Assembly and later as Speaker of the House.
