AHEAD next month’s election: Gov. Sule’s wife advocates women active participation in politics

LAFIA –Nasarawa State First Lady, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule has called on women to take active participation in politics especially during the forthcoming general election.

The First Lady made the call in Awe while addressing women from Awe, Obi and Keana Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State, Wednesday at a flag off , entitled “Meet The Women Tour” aimed at sensitizing women on the need to be involved in political activities so as to be reckoned with.

She said it became necessary for her to meet with women and sensitize them on the importance of participation in politics and the democratic process, stressing that it is only when women participate in the elections process that they can have the opportunity of supporting their fellow women to win political positions.

Speaking earlier, chairman of Awe Local Government who is also the host, commended the First Lady for the visit, just as he thanked Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for his developmental strides in Awe Local Government and the state at large.

Other speakers during the meeting include SSA on Primary Healthcare, Princess Margaret Elayo, Executive Secretary, State Scholarship Board, Sa’adatu Yahaya and Hon. Hauwa Mohammed Bawa, the APC flag bearer for Obi One constituency while scoring high the development strides of the APC led administration in the State, called for the re-election of Governor Abdullahi Sule for a second term in office so as to consolidate on the achievements so far made.

Hajiya Silifat Sule had added in Lafia, Akwanga that she projected the interest of women in the last three years which was the reason why her husband appointed three female Commissioners and other women into strategic positions.

She assured women that her husband would appoint more women into strategic positions and empower those in business and farming to expand their businesses if reelected during the forthcoming election.

The First Lady therefore, appealed to Nasarawa women as well as other residents to vote for Bola Tinubu, Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Sule and other candidates of the party in the general elections.

Earlier, the first lady’s entourage was at the Palace of Sangari of Awe, Lafia and Akwanga where she solicited for royal blessings and support.
