The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) mourns the loss of at least eight of its band personnel. The tragic accident occurred on Sunday morning, November 12, along Kano- Zaria road.

Details surrounding the incident are still emerging, and the cause of the accident, as well as the precise number of casualties, remains unconfirmed. Reports indicate that the unfortunate event took place as a Toyota 12-passenger bus, transporting NIS band members, was returning from Kano.

The band had just concluded a performance at the Presidential Commissioning and Passing Out Parade of the 48th Superintendent Basic Course 2023 at the Immigration Training School in Kano.

The ceremony, attended by high-ranking officials, including the Acting Comptroller General of the Immigration Service, Mrs.

Wura-Ola Adepoju, witnessed the participation of the NIS band. However, the joyous occasion took a tragic turn on the journey back.

Upon inspection of the accident scene, no fewer than eight bodies of the victims were found around the badly damaged Immigration vehicle.
