Abia North Forum moves to broker peace between Kalu and Onyejeocha

Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter of Abia North Forum (ANF) has come up to broker peace between the Deputy Speaker, Federal House of Representatives (FHR) in Abuja, Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu and the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Hon Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

Members of the forum briefed journalists after an emergency meeting they held to that effect Tuesday in Afri Hotel, Abuja.

The duo of the Speaker and the Minister have for sometime now been engaging in unhealthy media war, which the forum condemned in its entirety, saying such is capable of causing more harm than good.

However, members who attended the meeting and came up with a communique they signed to broker the peace were Igbo paramount ruler in Maitama, HRH David Okey Dede, Chief Iroha C.

Iroha, Hon Sam Ogbonna, Victor Ogbonna, Adams Ochuagu Esq, Obidike Barnabas and Benson Agoha.

Others were Pastor K. Okam, Hon Owo Ukwu, Madu Ekele, Chief Iheanyi Kalu and Igo Agugam, Ugoh Agugam, Stephen Ukeje, Mazi Okafor Chiori, Godson Elekwachi, Elder Uwaelelam Chidi and Awa U. Awa.

According to the communique each of them signed, the group for the sake of peace and national interest appealed to both parties to put a stop to every conventional and social media publication against one another and urged those fanning the embers of disunity between the two parties to desist, describing such act as disservice to our collective effort to nation building.

They also appealed to them to adopt and be receptive to every effort for peaceful reconciliation, ,as well as swiftly disown every media publication capable of undermining the on-going reconciliation effort.
Recalled that the meeting had in attendance key stakeholders from the five (5) Local Government Areas in Abia North. It was a meeting with one-point agenda, as presented, which centered on the on-going run-in between the Deputy Speaker and the Minister of State.

The group, the communique went on was deeply worried and expressed concern on the unfortunate development between the national figures, occupying very strategic political positions that require no distractions.

In their deliberations, the group was unanimous in their resolution to deploy the needed resources and workable approach to ensure a peaceful reconciliation between the two parties.
