By David Okpashi
LAFIA —THE All Progressive Congress in Nasarawa State has held a grand reception in Lafia to welcome Governor Abdullahi Sule back home after the Supreme Court Judgement that affirmed his victory over the March 18th 2023 governorship election.
Speaking at the reception held for governor Sule at the Governor’s lodge Government House, Lafia, at the weekend, governor Sule promised the people of Nasarawa State more development projects, stressing that his administration is ready to commission already completed projects in the coming weeks.
The Governor assured that in the coming days, his government will commission projects already completed such as the newly dualized Government House- Shendam Road, the new State Secretariat, a liquefied natural gas production plant in Lafia, as well as the groundbreaking for the construction of the Lafia bye pass that will run from Shabu-Akurba-Akunza.
According to the governo, “My dream is to leave Nasarawa State better than I met it. And my dream is to see that Lafia as a State capital can compete with any other State capitals in the country. I didn’t make any arrangements for losing.
“I didn’t make any preparations for losing at the courts because in my mind and in my prayers I told and I prayed and asked God not to lead us to have arrested development in Nasarawa State,” he stated.
He said Nasarawa State has great prospects and that his administration would work to utilize the potentials that abound in the state to the benefit of the people
Governor Sule warned that the State would not afford to allow the ambition of some individuals to throw the State into anarchy, stressing that the security agencies are on red alert to deal with any situation that could threaten the existing relative peace in the State.
“There were a lot of uncertainties, there were a lot of rumours, there were a lot of blackmail, a lot of insults and a lot of intimidation. But we thank God for granting us the patience. And it’s that patience that the Almighty Allah has asked us to be that is showing us what we are seeing today,” he said.
While accusing the opposition for attempting to set the State on fire simply because they failed to get what they wanted at the election, Sule emphasized that, despite the intimidation and attempt to divide the people along ethnic and religious lines, the people of Nasarawa State remain one and united.
“We can not afford, in any way whatsoever, because of the ambition of anybody, to drag our State into a state of insecurity. We will do the best we can as the Chief Security Officer of your state to work with the security agencies to keep our state as safe as possible,” he assured.
He described as laughable calls by the opposition for him to hand over governance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a manner that is completely alien to the constitution of the country.
“I am here. And I am here for all of you. I am the Governor today, I am the Governor till 2027,” Governor Sule said.
While commending his supporters and members of the APC for demonstrating uncommon patience throughout the duration of the litigation, especially with the insults and intimidation from the opposition, the Governor appealed for more patience as his administration continues to deliver more development projects.
He used the reception to express appreciation to two former governors, Senators Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Umaru Tanko Al-makura, for standing by him all through during the cade.
