Code of Conduct Bureau Summons Minister of Interior Over Alleged N438m Contract Scam

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has summoned the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for questioning regarding his company’s involvement in an alleged N438 million contract scam uncovered within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

New Planet Projects, purportedly linked to Minister Tunji-Ojo, is said to have benefited from the controversial contract awarded by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

The CCB has initiated an investigation into the potential breach of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers by the embattled minister.

According to an exclusive document obtained by news sources on Monday, the CCB has scheduled an interview for the minister on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the CCB Headquarters, located in the Federal Secretariat Complex, Abuja.

Gwimi S.P, the Director of Investigation and Monitoring at CCB, signed the document on behalf of Murtala Aliyu, the CCB Chairman. The letter stated that the bureau’s invitation is based on its mandate and powers as outlined in the Third Schedule, Part 1, 3 (e) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

In the letter addressed to Minister Tunji-Ojo, it reads, “The bureau is investigating a case of alleged breach of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers in which your name featured prominently. Consequently, you are invited for an interview scheduled as follows:

Date: Tuesday, 16th January, 2024.
Time: 11:00 AM prompt.
Venue: CCB Headquarters on 5th Floor, Annex III, Phase I, Federal Secretariat Complex, Abuja.

This invitation is pursuant to the mandate and powers of the Bureau as enshrined in the Third Schedule, Part I, Paragraph 3 (e) to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended. Please be properly guided.”
