In response to a public pre-disconnection notice issued by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) on January 8, signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Reuben Muoka, Globacom clarified its position regarding the alleged outstanding debts.

According to the notice, Glo’s failure to settle its debts led to the approval of partial disconnection by the NCC, in line with the Nigerian Communications Act (2003) and relevant guidelines.

However, a representative from Globacom expressed disappointment at the situation, emphasizing that thorough fact-checking should have been conducted before reaching conclusions. The official stated unequivocally, “We are not owing MTN any interconnect charges.”

Additionally, the official highlighted Globacom’s pioneering role in introducing the pay-per-second billing system, disrupting the monopoly of foreign telecommunications companies in Nigeria.

The company firmly refuted the reports, labeling them as false allegations against Nigeria’s fully indigenous telecommunications enterprise that has revolutionized communication accessibility across all levels.

At present, subscribers of Globacom face the possibility of losing the ability to make calls to MTN after the 10-day grace period following the issuance of the notice, while retaining the capability to receive incoming calls.

Globacom remains steadfast in denying any outstanding financial obligations to MTN, emphasizing its commitment to fair business practices within the telecommunications industry.
