US Firm Donates Unmanned Water Vessels to Boost Nigeria’s Security Efforts

The Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Muhammed Bello Matawalle, presented two state-of-the-art unmanned water vessels to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a bid to bolster Nigeria’s fight against insecurity, particularly on its waterways.

The donation, a gesture from Swift Ship Company in the USA, aims to fortify the nation’s security efforts, as announced during a ceremony at the Villa.

Matawalle conveyed that these high-tech vessels, termed the S2 and S3 Swift Sea Stalkers, represent the latest technological advancement and will be deployed to safeguard the maritime environments of regions like the Niger Delta, Lake Chad, and other vital maritime areas across the country.

This contribution comes following the Minister’s recent visit to several high-tech military hardware companies in the USA, including NEANY, Swift Ships, and OCR Global, to explore innovative technologies that could enhance Nigeria’s military capabilities in addressing contemporary security challenges.

Moreover, the Minister expressed intentions to foster partnerships with US firms to potentially facilitate local production of military hardware in collaboration with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria.
Matawalle emphasized that this collaboration aligns with President Tinubu’s vision of achieving peace and security within the nation.

During his visit, the Minister inspected various cutting-edge military and intelligence hardware facilities, including a rapid deployment mobile RADAR system, a drone ground control station, an unmanned water vehicle, and a compact biometric search-scan system, among others.

The Minister reassured President Tinubu that the integration of these advanced military technologies would significantly contribute to Nigeria’s ongoing battle against insecurity, demonstrating a step towards reinforcing the nation’s defense and security strategies.
