NNPCL Plans to produce 2 Million Barrels of Crude Oil Daily by 2024

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL) unveiled a bold strategy led by its newly constituted Board and Management team. During the inauguration ceremony officiated by President Bola Tinubu, Chief Pius Akinyelure, the Non-Executive Board Chairman, pledged a momentous increase in crude oil production to a staggering two million barrels per day starting next year.

Assuring the State House Correspondents of their resolute commitment, Chief Akinyelure emphasized the revitalization of the Oil and Gas sector, aiming to cement its role in bolstering the economy and fostering prosperity for Nigerians.

While acknowledging President Tinubu’s support, Chief Akinyelure highlighted the challenges ahead, specifically the pressing issues of oil theft and pipeline vandalism. Addressing these concerns, he stressed the necessity for a comprehensive security restructuring to achieve the set production targets and elevate the nation’s status.

The recent appointments made by President Tinubu in accordance with the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021, include distinguished figures such as Malam Mele Kolo Kyari as the Group Chief Executive Officer and Alhaji Umar Isa Ajiya as the Chief Financial Officer.

This strategic alignment of seasoned professionals aims to steer NNPCL toward a transformative phase, focusing on amplifying oil output and fortifying security measures to safeguard Nigeria’s crucial oil infrastructure.
