Tragic Fire at Canadian Embassy in Abuja Claims Lives

A devastating fire broke out at the Canadian Embassy in Abuja today, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives and leaving another individual critically injured. The incident occurred during routine maintenance work on the embassy’s power generating plant, leading to a scene of chaos and desperation.
The unfortunate event unfolded as the embassy’s technical crew was conducting repairs on the power generator.
Reports indicate that the victims were part of the team responsible for the generator’s maintenance.
The fire began around 12 pm, prompting embassy staff to quickly evacuate the premises in fear for their safety. Responding to the emergency, firefighting trucks rushed to the scene to battle the raging inferno. Within the embassy compound, personnel sought refuge under trees and other secure areas, while an ambulance arrived to transport the injured to nearby medical facilities.
The Head of Operations of the FCT Fire Service, Mr. Amiola Adebayo confirmed the devastating incident and reported that some victims had been urgently transported to the hospital for medical care. However, the cause of the fire and the nationalities of the affected individuals remain undisclosed at this time.
As of this report, the Embassy of Canada has not issued an official statement regarding the tragic incident. An ongoing investigation is underway to determine the circumstances and causes behind the fire, shedding light on the events that led to this heartbreaking loss of life.
