In a bid to tackle noise pollution in the state, the Lagos State government has taken action by sealing several churches, event centers, nightclubs, bars, and other establishments.

These actions were targeted at specific locations within Lagos Island, Ojodu, Ogba, Magodo, and Ikosi areas of the state.

Photographs shared by the office of the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, showcased some of the affected establishments, which notably included the New Jerusalem Ark of God International Church and Yplus Event Centre.

The enforcement operation was conducted by officials from the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA).

Their actions reflect the government’s commitment to curbing noise pollution and ensuring a healthier living environment for residents.

In a statement, the post by LASEPA read, “The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) officials conducted an enforcement operation, which resulted in the closure and sealing off of specific establishments in areas including Lagos Island, Ojudu, Ogba, Magodo, and Ikosi, all due to concerns regarding noise pollution.

“LASEPA advocates strict adherence to the recommended sound levels in establishments, including religious centers, nightclubs, bars, and events centers, as part of the efforts to combat noise pollution.”
