Oluwakemi noted that the award would spur her unit to do more work pointing out that the rate of kidnapping of school children had been drastically reduced since the creation of NSCDC Female Squad.
She made it known that the Commandant General, Abubakar Ahmed Audi had established the female squad in all the 36 states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory. She added that the female squad was designed amongst other things to protect schools: both property and humans from insurgency attack. According to her, the squad had embarked on sensitization of schools on security consciousness as well as tips that would enable them remain safe, including giving out contact number for quick response in a situation of emergency.
She, however, called on Nigerians to be security conscious at all times saying that security was everybody’s business, asserting that all hands had to be on the deck to surmount insecurity.
Meanwhile, she dedicated the award to the Commandant General, Dr Abubakar Ahmed Audi for creating the female squad as well as giving them the enabling environment to operate.
