Being gay no longer excuse for seeking asylum — UK Home Secretary

The United Kingdom’s Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, has sparked a heated debate on immigration and asylum policy by suggesting that seeking asylum on the grounds of fear of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender may no longer be a valid reason for entry into the UK or other Western countries.

Braverman argued that the current asylum system is “unsustainable” and creates “huge incentives for illegal migration.

She maintained that many asylum seekers have passed through multiple safe countries and, in some cases, have resided in such countries for several years before reaching Western nations.

Furthermore, Braverman expressed concerns about uncontrolled immigration, emphasizing the need for stronger border control measures. She warned that governments must find a way to control their borders, stating that failure to do so could have adverse consequences for the stability and security of nations.
