Chairman, Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Women Affairs, Hajara Danyaro Ibrahim Thursday urged Nigerian women to support themselves for political positions to enable them participate actively and contribute positively to the development of the society.

Danyaro who represent Nasarawa Central Constituency made the call while playing host to NCWS, Nasarawa State Chapter at Assembly complex in Lafia.

She urged women to actively participate in politics in their various constituencies so as to be heard and contribute positively in governance for the interest of the country.

“Let’s actively participate in politics to contribute positively to the development of the society.

The problem is that we women see ourselves as enemies especially when a woman is contesting for political positions, it is the same woman/ women that will say we will not support and vote for ourselves”.

“It is the same women that will complain of marginalization. It will be the same we women that are doing this to ourselves and we have been complaining that women don’t get more positions/ appointments ” she lamented.

The lawmaker while assuring the womenfolk of her readiness to be the voice of the women as well as protect their interest while performing her duties, she appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule for appointing women into government positions and appealing for more appointments of women in that direction.

“We want to appreciate God for your election into the state Assembly. You are the second woman to be here after Hon Mary Enwongulu, the former Minority Leader. We believe in your capacity and capability to represent us and other women in the house.

“We in NCWS are happy to have you because we believe that you will make laws that will add value to women and other people, she said

The NCWS president urged Hon Danyaro to make laws that will add value to women and other people of the state.
