End Garnishing of Govt Account in Nasarawa, Non implementation of laws *** As Nasarawa remains next to Lagos Assembly in lawmaking, performance

Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi,

Tuesday admonished the new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Labaran Magaji to unravel the remote cause of the incessant garnishing of state government account with a view to putting an end to what they lawmakers described as an embarrassment to the government and the entire state.

The Lawmakers also urged the justice Commissioner to address the issue of non Implementation of some laws passed by the state House of Assembly.

The Speaker of the House, Rt Hon.

Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi gave the admonition while playing host to Magaji in his office in Lafia.

According to the Speaker, incessant garnishing of government account has not just been an embarrassment to the state but affected the state negatively in the past.

“Incessant garnishing of state government account is disturbing . What is causing the problem of garnishing government account in the state. I want you to find the remote causes for the government account being garnished often so that the state can find a lasting solution to it, ” the Speaker stated .

While lamenting further over non implementation of some of the laws made by the House, the speaker noted that several laws passed which would have impacted positively on the state were not being implementated

“We have passed many laws which include executive and private member bills, many have been assented to by the previous and present governments but implementation of some of these laws remain a serious concern to the citizens. So I want you to address the matter,” the Abdullahi declared

He assured the Attorney General of support of the house through close and effective synergy to ensure administration of Justice in the state.

Earlier, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Labaran Magaji had told the lawmakers that the visit was to familiarize with the House and sought for synergy for quick administration of Justice in the state.

Magaji has commended the Speaker and Hon members for the good work they are doing for the state and other Nigerians.

” I want to commend you for the good work you are doing as Nasarawa State is next to Lagos State in terms of law making. Sooner or later His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule will send a bill for the Establishment of Anti-corruption Bureau to the House.

” We hope that the bill will be given speedy consideration and passage, if sent. ” he added.

The Attorney General called for the establishment of Anti-corruption Bureau in order to tackle corruption in the state as well as sought for support and effective synergy from the House to enable him succeed.
