Father kills day old baby girl over preference for male child

A 28-year-old man named Misbahu Salisu from Doka Baici, Tofa Local Government Area, in Kano State, has been arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board for poisoning of his day-old baby girl, stemming from his preference for a male child.

According to the Deputy Commander General of Operations, Dr. Mujahid Aminudeen, Salisu had admitted to administering a local insect killer, Otapiapia, to the newborn baby, leading to her tragic death.

The motive behind Salisu’s actions became clear as he confessed to his preference for a male child, and when his wife gave birth to a female child, he made the terrible decision to end the baby’s life.

Following his confession, Salisu was handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
