PDP Rejects Presidential Election Petition Court Judgment

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the judgment passed by the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) by it’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the February 25, 2023 Presidential election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The PDP swiftly responded to this development with a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba in Abuja. In this official release, the PDP declared its outright rejection of the judgment.

According to the statement, the party conducted an initial review of the PEPC’s verdict and found it to be in stark contrast to reason, facts, and the evidence presented in court.

They argued that the judgment disregarded the relevant Electoral Laws, Guidelines, Regulations, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended). The party criticized the judgment for being overly technical and falling short of delivering substantial justice.

Remaining committed to the rule of law, the PDP announced its intention to conduct a comprehensive review of the judgment with its legal team. Subsequently, they would decide on their next course of action within the legal framework.

In a call to action, the PDP urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, calm, and united. They vowed to continue leading the charge to defend democracy and ensure that the will of the people, as expressed in the February 25, 2023 Presidential election, is respected and restored. The political landscape is undoubtedly set for more developments as the PDP stands firm in its pursuit of justice.
