Abuja-based real estate mogul and Chairman, Committee on Foreign Affairs in the 9th House of Representatives,Rt.Hon.( Dr.) Yusuf Buba Yakub, has admonished the Muslim faithful and Nigerians at large to avail themselves of the lessons of the Eid El Kabir to do good always and make Nigeria and the world a better place.

Buba, who stated the above in a release for the Sallah celebration made available to newsmen in Abuja earlier today, also urged Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of personal sacrifice and selfless giving, stressing that there is nothing a man has or possesses that is not a gift or blessing from Allah.

The rest of the text read:
” I write to extend my very deep and warm wishes to the entire Muslim Ummah,to our political leaders, our traditional rulers and, indeed, the good people of our dear country on the occasion of the celebration of this year’s Eid El Kabir.

“This solemn occasion marks the exemplification of man’s willingness to make sacrifice in obedience to the urging of the Supreme Creator, Allah( SWT),who gives everything to man in His all-encompassing benevolence and selfless magnanimity.

“It reminds us that there is nothing a man has, owns or possesses that has not been given to him as a blessing, an endowment or a gift by Allah , the Most Benevolent, the Most Merciful. We must understand that, apart from His Mercy, there is nothing special about us that qualifies us for Allah’s favours and blessings.

“It, therefore, becomes wrong to withhold any such gifts or possessions from a fellow man, especially, when we can afford to spare such a gift to one that is in dire need of same.Today’s celebration, therefore, teaches the virtues of sacrifice, selflessness and wilful sharing, all of which are in short supply in our nation today.

“As we celebrate this holy feast in line with the injunctions handed to us by the Holy Prophet ( PBUH),we must retain in our consciousness its very essence as a route to atonement for sins committed by us and as a demand on us to forgive those who may have failed us in one way or another and, indeed, as a lesson that, nothing that one has that cannot be given up for the peace, satisfaction and personal fulfilment that one daily craves in life and destiny.

“Consequent upon the above,I call on us all to avail ourselves the very essence of this celebration to decide to do right and to act right always in our relationship with our fellow man, in our attitude to our nation and to the world at large. That way, we will continue to contribute our quota to making the world a better place.

” Barka Da Sallah. Allah ya maimaitaman,”the text concluded.
