Remain committed to citizens welfare— Nasarawa lawmakers tell Gov. Sule, ***Pass bills to tackle poverty, equitable resources distribution , economic growth

AHEAD of the may 29th, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has asked the state governor, Abdullahi Sule to continue to ensure that the welfare and wellbeing of the citizens of the state remain one of his top priority.

This is even as the lawmakers have assured the governor of their support to better the wellbeing of the people of the state.

Speaker of the Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi gave the task while announcing the passage of two executive bills during the Assembly plenary in Lafia.

The Speaker said that the achievements recorded within the four years of Sule administration in the state was as a result of good relationship between the executive and the legislative arms.

Abdullahi announced the passage of a Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Erosion, Watershed and Climate Change Agency (NASEWCCA) and Other Matters Connected Therewith.

According to the Speaker, the agency when fully operational would reduce the vulnerability of soil to erosion in targeted sub-catchment areas, prevent and protect land degradation.

“A Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Erosion, Watershed and Climate Change Agency (NASEWCCA) and Other Matters Connected Therewith third reading and passed,” the speaker declared.

Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi also announced the passage of a Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Social Investment Agency saddled with the responsibility of tackling poverty, ensuring equitable distribution of resources and economic growth in the state and for other matters connected therewith.

He said that the agency would tackle poverty and ensure equitable distribution of resources and economic growth for the overall development of the state.

The speaker directed the clerk of the Assembly to produce clean copies of the two bills for the governor’s assent.

Earlier, the Majority Leader of the House, Tanko Tunga moved had moved motions for the bills to scale third reading, while Mr Abel Bala, the Minority Leader, seconded the motions.

The lawmakers after exhaustive debate, unanimously passed the two bills.
