The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, has called on the political class in Rivers State to embrace dialogue and resolve their differences to restore democratic governance in the state.

Addressing the congregation during a special service marking his fifth-year enthronement as the Anglican Primate, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba said the current situation in Rivers State could deprive the people of the dividends of democracy.

He emphasized that the Church would continue to champion peace and support the government in improving the lives of citizens.

According to him, the Church will remain committed to providing for the less privileged through the establishment of schools, hospitals, and empowerment programs for women and youths.

Also speaking, the immediate past Primate, Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh, urged the Federal Government to review the state of emergency declared in Rivers State and bring all stakeholders together to achieve lasting peace in the South-South region.

Most Reverend Okoh argued that the absence of peace in Rivers State would negatively impact the country’s economy.

He passionately urged Christians not to relent in praying for those in authority to make the right decisions at all times.

The former Primate stressed the need for citizens to remain law-abiding and avoid actions that could escalate political tensions.
