The National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTs) Woman Leader, in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr (Mrs) Rachael Adewumi has advised members to be prudent in their spending during the Christmas celebrations.

In a statement she made available to journalists on Tuesday in her office, she cautioned members against indulging in extravagant spending, emphasizing the need to prioritize their financial responsibilities.

Adewumi who doubles as the President of a Non Governmental Association (NGO), Takem Empowerment Initiatives (TEIs) that trains and empowers the widows, orphans and the less privileged in the society has this to say: “As we are celebrating the Christmas, I urge all our members to be mindful of their financial situation and avoid overspending. Remember to cut your coat according to your size, and prioritize your needs over your wants.”

She however noted that the economic situation in the country has been challenging, and it is essential for traders to be financially disciplined to avoid debt and financial hardship, just as she also encouraged members to focus on the true spirit of Christmas, which is about showing love, kindness, and generosity to others.

“Let us celebrate Christmas with modesty and humility, and avoid unnecessary competition and showmanship,” she said. “Instead, let us use the opportunity to strengthen our relationships with family, friends, and community.”
