Women win their husbands in football match in Abuja

Members of Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) have won their men’s counterpart of Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) with three goals to one in St Peter’s Catholic Church, Idu, Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

The match was played between the two organisations on Saturday to mark the CWO’s yearly Mother’s Day celebration, Sunday.

Speaking after the match, the CWO president, Mrs Augustina Madiji said that she knew that the women would win their husbands, because they (the women), according to her were always serious and ready at all time.

Believing that a woman can equally do what a man can do, even better, she however admitted that their players outnumbered that of their men’s counterpart, with about 19 against 11. Madiji said that the reason behind the anomally was because the women were the weaker vessels.

She therefore enjoined the men to wake up from slumber and also asked the women to keep it up, even as she confirmed that the match was played to mark their 2023 Mother’s Day celebration. The women’s president however boasted that the CWO under her watch were prepared to challenge other CWOs from other parishes.

Although the CMO president, Mr Joseph Luka, when spoken to accused the referee of partiality, but he was quick to add that between two players, one must win. Mr Luka boasted that come next match, the husbands would beat their wives to the ground.

Confirming that the women won their husbands in the match, the referee, Mr Ejike Onuoha defended that the reason why he allowed the women players to outnumber their men counterpart, was as a result of the men trying to overpower and oppress the women.

With excitement, the football match attracted spectators who came to do Christmas for their eyes at the football match.
