FRSC Seeks support of traditional institutions on effective traffic control

The Esu Bwari, Ibrahim Yaro has appealed to transport union Leaders to educate their members on the need to always drive responsibly and abide by traffic rules and regulations..

The Esu Bwari who gave the advice while receiving the Bwari unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC in his Palace urged commercial drivers to avoid intake of alcoholic drinks, overloading and other activities that could hinder Free flow of traffic in the Area Council.

He commended the FRSC for the strategy adopted in bringing the safer roads campaign to the palace of traditional rulers pledging to spread the message to the communities under his Kingdom.

At the Bwari General Hospital, the medical director, Dr Ibrahim Mijinyawa, said the hospital would henceforth include road safety awareness campaign in its daily health talks to complement efforts at reducing road accidents.

Dr Mijinyawa assured that the hospital will keep its facilities open twenty four hours daily to attend to emergencies.

Chairman Bwari Market Association, Alhaji Shehu Mohammed, urged the FRSC to assist in checking commercial activities causing obstructions daily on Bwari township roads.

Alhaji Mohammed commended the contibutions of FRSC and pledged the association’s support in checking the excesses of Okada and tricycle operators in the area.

The Bwari unit Commander, Mr Suleiman Koko said the campaign became necessary to enable commutters speak out against reckless driving during the Ember Months and beyond.

The unit commander said FRSC would strengthen its stakeholders engagement to bring about effective traffic control in Bwari town.

The unit Commander was supported in distributing fliers to commuters by officials of transport unions, special Marshals and other stakeholders in the transport sector.
