LG Election: APC to hold primaries October 16 to elect Chairmanship flag bearers

Ahead of the scheduled November 2nd Local Government election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced October 16 as date to conduct primaries to elect chairmanship flag bearers in the state

Chairman of the party, Aliyu Bello said a the stakeholders meeting of the party Monday in Lafia, that October 14 has been slated for primaries to elect councillorship candidates in all the 147 electoral ward in Nasarawa, fixing the nomination form for chairmanship at N5 million as well as N1 million for expression of interest.

Aliyu said that the nomination form for the councillorship N1.

5 million and N400,000 for expression of interest, adding that the screening of aspirants is to commence on October 7-10, while appeals arising from the primaries is slated for October 17, while names of successful candidates would be submitted to the electoral body on 18.

According to the APC Chairman Who explained that the party decided to prioritise the adoption of consensus candidates for all positions in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution., directed stakeholders from the various electoral wards and LGAs to engage their aspirants and forward three names for chairmanship in each area for onward consideration.

“In an event where the consensus could not be achieved the party will conduct either direct or indirect primaries in the affected areas,” he added.

Addressing the Stakeholders at the meeting, Governor Abdullahi Sule appreciated the stakeholders for attending the meeting to brainstorm and cross fertilize ideas on how best to ensure that the party candidates succeed in the forthcoming LG election.

The governor who collaborated the APC Chairman on the issue of consensus candidates said the issue was a constitutional one advising the aspirants to place the interest of the party over every considerations having known that leadership comes from God.

The governor called on the leaders of the party in the state to work together for the success of all the candidates of the party in the election.

The meeting was attended by immediate past National Chairman of APC, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, former Speaker of the House of Assembly, and members.National Assembly members o of APC, elected and appointees of the party, as well as the party officials among others.
