Isi Ama! A shadow of itself

Published

on

It is a popular junction between Azaraegbulu in Owerri North and u
Umuhu in Aboh Mbaise, very close Radio Nigeria, popularly called “ISI AMA”

It is an exit and entrance road used by Umuhu, some parts of Umuokele and Umuoye.

Some Logara and Obiangwu people use it too.

My point is, it is a popular junction. Some years a ago, through the goodwill of Hon.

Jerry Alagbaoso that road was tarred and subsequently maintained by the youths of the village at intervals, expecially when the road started having potholes.

They would organise themselves to do the filling up and other stop gap measures on the road.

Today, that road is a shadow of its former self.

Very dilapidated, messy, flooded with water, more of muddy pathway than a tarred road it used to be.

This year isn’tthe first time the road was experiencing raining seasons. From the voice over, the company constructing the Owerri– Umuahia road had a hand to the current state of the road.

This is an appeal to that company to kindly take responsibility under the three P’s of corporate social responsibility( People, Planet, and Profit) and fix the road.

For the sake of clarity these three P’s represent the different areas that companies should consider when operating in a socially responsible manner. “People” focuses on the social aspects of CSR, such as how a company impacts its employees, customers, and society as a whole.

“Planet” relates to the environmental impact of a company’s operations and its efforts to be sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Lastly, “Profit” emphasizes the economic aspect, highlighting that a company can still be profitable while being socially responsible and environmentally conscious.

By balancing these three factors, companies can contribute positively to society while also benefiting themselves. Sadly, many companies do not care about the people and the planet, caring instead with obsession the last P- profit.

It is high time we began to hold these companies accountable and force them by any means legal to be responsible and considerately human in dealing with the environment they operate in and the people that host them

The good, respected, peaceful and responsible people of Umuhu Enyiogugu would expect an urgent attention on the road by the company whose construction activities impacted negatively on the road.
