Nigerian Journalist, Ajibade Owefoso, Dies in His Sleep

Ajibade Owefoso, a Nigerian journalist and the Imo State correspondent for Trust TV, has passed away. He reportedly died in his sleep over the weekend at his Lagos residence.

According to *Daily Trust*, Owefoso’s body was discovered by neighbors on the morning of Saturday, September 7. Concerned after repeated knocks on his door went unanswered, they forced their way into his apartment and found him lifeless.

Owefoso is survived by his wife and three children, who live in Imo State. He had recently traveled to Imo to bury his father-in-law, an event during which he received overwhelming support from colleagues, including members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapter.

Ibrahim Shehu Adamu, the Chief Operating Officer of Trust TV, expressed shock and grief over Owefoso’s passing. Adamu described him as an energetic and dedicated reporter whose work ethic stood out.

“Ajibade was a dynamic and passionate reporter whose energy brought stories to life. His sudden death is a profound loss to all of us at Trust TV, and his vibrant presence will be deeply missed,” Adamu said.

He further emphasized Owefoso’s impact on the journalism community, stating, “His journalistic excellence and engaging reporting style made him a valuable member of our team. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled.”

In a condolence message, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State praised Owefoso’s dedication to his craft, describing him as a diligent, hardworking, and God-fearing journalist who upheld the highest standards of media ethics.

The governor extended his heartfelt condolences to Owefoso’s young family and his elderly mother, offering prayers and support during this difficult time.
