All conflicts from mining activities in Nasarawa ‘ll be addressed—–Gov. Sule tells FG

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State Friday assured the Federal government that all conflicts between mining ⛏️ Companies, host communities the host communities would be adequately addressed to provide enable environment for mining activities to thrive.

This is even as the state government has accepted host the fourth coming the 6th National Council on Mining and Mineral Resources Development, scheduled for November.

Sule who received the delegation of federal government led by Eng Obadiah Nkom, Director General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, Abuja in the Government House Council Chamber, expressed his administration’s commitment to swiftly implementing the minister’s recommendations.

He assured that the state government is dedicated to creating a conducive environment for mining activities, which are crucial to the state’s economic development, Dr. Dele Alake in government House Lafia thanked the Federal Government for the selection of Nasarawa State to host the council meeting

According to governor Sule, his administration’s focus on ensuring that all mining activities within the state are carried out and conducted in a sustainable economical and in responsible manner in line with the policy direction of the state government.

“The national council meeting is a significant event that will bring together critical stakeholders from across Nigeria and beyond involved in mining industry to discuss policies, challenges, and the future of the sector.

“The decision to hold the event in Nasarawa State is in recognition of the state’s rich mineral resources and its potential that will launch the state into the global economy as a hub in the mining sector”, Governor Sule declared

Earlier, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, has said that the delegation of the federal government was in Nasarawa to discuss and find amenable and lasting solutions to the lingering conflict between mining companies operating in the state

The minister while calling on the Nasarawa State government to take urgent means to resolve the protracted disagreements between mining companies operating in the state expressed concerns over the lingering crisis.

Speaking on behalf of the Honourable Minister,, Engr. Nkom emphasized the importance of resolving the conflicts before the national council meeting, stating that a peaceful and stable environment is essential for attracting and sustaining investment in the solid minerals sector.

The minister who expressed confidence in Nasarawa State’s ability to host the National Council meeting said given the strategic importance in Nigeria’s mining landscape., measures would be deployed to resolve the worrisome crisis

It would be recalled that the disputes has reportedly created tensions among various stakeholders in the mining sector within the Nasarawa Local Government Area, posing a potential threat to the region’s stability and investment climate.
