I may be tempted to dominate my cabinet with Journalists if — Gov. Sule

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has declared that his administration may end up dominating his cabinet with Journalists because of their dedication and commitment to duty as well as the kind of result he is receiving from few journalists appointed to work with him.

The governor has also commended the entire media practioner s in the state for the cordial relationship and the conducive working environments created to enable him function in the state.

Speaking when he received the NUJ State Council executives on a thank you visit in government House , LAFIA, Governor Sule
maintained that he would end up with many journalists in his cabinet if they continue to work relentlessly like some of his journalist-appointees.

Sule who underscored the leadership traits of the State Chairman of the NUJ, Salihu Mohammed Alkali, congratulated the Chairman and other Exco members on his re-election and professionalism in bringing good governance to Nasarawa state.

According to the governor, “Nasarawa State has no reason to be poor due to the rich human and solid minerals endowments it possesses, I’m confused whether to occupy my cabinet with Journalists because those working with me particularly Peter Ahemba, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs who is doing well for the government”..

“I’m ready to work with more journalists who are ready to contribute meaningfully to to my administration for the betterment of the state “, Sule declared.

While commending the efforts of the State Leadership of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in upholding the integrity and enhancing moral discipline of journalism profession, the governor said he was excited to appoint some members of the Union to work closely with them to enrich his governance approach in the state particularly his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, noting that he does his assignment seriously.

“The fantastic job of Ahemba underscored the huge responsibility of journalists in the state to attract development in a positive way, ensuring amicable end of hostility in the frequent herder-farmer clashes in the southern zone”..

In his remarks, the State Chairman of the Nasarawa State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Salihu Mohammed Alkali said the union was in government House to appreciate the state government for the renovation of the state secretariat of the NUJ, promising to work hand in glove.

The Chairman assured the Governor of the Union’s readiness to leverage on driving good governance, accountability and integrity by holding government accountable at all times.

Alkali commended the Governor for carrying members of the Union along with the appointments of Dogo Shammah as information commissioner, Ibrahim Addra as Chief Press Secretary, Peter Ahemba as Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs and Mu’azu Madaki as Personal Assistant on Broadcast Media.
