NAGIS DG empowers 100 vulnerables with N10m at birthday in Nasarawa

LAFIA — The Director General of Nasarawa state Geographic Information Service (NAGIS), Hon. Sonny Agassi, has doled out over N100, 000 each, to 100 vulnerable persons amounting to ten million naira (N10,000,000), as part of his empowerment to the lessprevillaged.

making the distribution in his country home, Agwede, in Obi local government area of the state to mark his 54th birthday anniversary, on Sunday, Sonny Agassi said the empowerment was his give back to the society especially the vulnerable persons in the face of the prevailing challenges confronting the citizens.

The NAGIS DG who expressed gratitude for the opportunity offered him to serve at various capacities in the state and for clocking 54 years of age, pledged to continue to give back to his community and the state.

While Commending the state government and his immediate community for giving him the opportunity to serve the state in various capacities, Agasi appealed to the people to continue to support Governor Abdullahi Sule adding that he will continue to sustain what he has been doing over the years.

Speaking at the occasion, deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Dr Emmanuel Akabe congratulated Agassi, for clocking 54 years, for his humanitarian gesture to amulerating the sufferings of his people.

“I want to thank our brother for his humanitarian disposition to his people especially the vulnerable ones. To me this calls for emulation. He can’t give to everybody, but 100 is a large number that he’s impacting on” Akabe said.

Dr Akabe, who was also the special guest of honour at the occasion, called on the beneficiaries to utilize the money judiciously and extend the same gesture done to them to those who are not privileged to benefit for now.

Also speaking, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, who was the father of the day commended Sonny Agassi, for remembering his people back home by providing palliative for them in cash to alleviate their hardship.

“Your Excellency, today we are celebrating somebody that I will like to always commend. Sonny Agassi, is loyal, respected, very frank and a honest human being. This is somebody that I am always pleased with because he added value to my administration when I was the governor”.

“Let me commend you for this large kindness, for thinking about your community and giving back to them. I want us to give back to the community that made us, for people to feel our impact”

“I want everyone that is here today who has gotten any opportunity, no matter how small, to support your community through palliative. It doesn’t have to be big. I am throwing the challenge to all of us, including myself, that no matter how small, we should think of those who have not”. Al-Makura said.

It would be recalled that the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme were carefully selected from the five electoral wards that made up Jenkwe development area in Obi local government area of Nasarawa State.

Prominent among those, who attended the occasion were the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, former Governor of Nasarawa State, traditional rulers and politicians.

Highlight at the occasion was the symbolic presentation of a dummy check of ten million naira to some disabled beneficiaries, while cultural dancers thrilled the audience.
