FG Suspends Permanent Secretary Over Sexual Harassment Allegations

The Office of the Head of Service has taken decisive action by suspending Ambassador Ibrahim Lamuwa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following serious allegations of sexual harassment levelled against him.

The suspension will remain in effect pending the outcome of an investigation into the accusations.

The complaint, filed through legal representation by Simisola Ajayi and her lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, details multiple incidents of alleged sexual harassment.

In response to the gravity of the allegations, Head of Service Folashade Yemi-Esan swiftly established a committee to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

The Minister’s letter, dated May 27, 2024, expressed serious concern about the allegations leveled against Ambassador Lamuwa and urged appropriate action.

A senior director within the Office of the Head of Service confirmed the suspension, emphasizing that it was enacted pending the committee’s findings.
