18 Nigerian girls rescue from trafficker in Ghana: GIF urges FG to ensure no culprit is spared

The Greater Igbo Forum (GIF) worldwide has condemned the unfortunate situation where more than 18 Nigerian girls whose age range between 15 and 18 years were rescued from human traffickers in a daring operation by local security guards in Ghana.

The Forum is distressed by this development and urges relevant security agencies to get to the root of the matter and ensure no culprit is spared.

The President of GIF, Lady Lois Jonathan who made the call in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday advised that the girls be rehabilitated and properly reintegrated into the society, while adequate provision is made to cater for their well being.

She call on Governors of States across the country to look into the matter to ensure such development is averted in their domains.

Lady Lois also appeal that government institutions should be strengthened to deal with such matters.

“It is sad that that when we as a country should do more to improve the lives of our young ones by making opportunities for a better life available to them, rather our young girls are being exposed to lifestyles that would be inimical to their development.

“Also given that the bulk of the girls were from the South east part of the country, we call on governors from the region to synergize and work together towards addressing this challenge.

“We are glad that Eze Ndigbo Ghana, HRM. Amb. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, Ezeigbo Ghana has been on top of the matter since it broke, but we urge that more be done to address it” she laments
