In a significant move aimed at bolstering the leadership within the law enforcement agency, President Bola Tinubu has approved a series of appointments within the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF).

In a statement issued on Monday, Chief Ngelale underscored the President’s expectations for unwavering integrity, diligence, and patriotic commitment from the appointees, recognizing their pivotal roles in advancing the welfare of the Nigeria Police and the nation as a whole.

Leading the pack is retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, who steps into the role of Chairman of the Police Service Commission, succeeding former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in January 2023.

Joining Argungu in steering the affairs of the commission are Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, who takes up the mantle as Secretary, and retired DIG Taiwo Lakanu, appointed as a Member of the Commission.

These appointments, as revealed by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, are contingent upon confirmation by the Senate, emphasizing the constitutional scrutiny they must undergo.

Additionally, President Tinubu has tapped Mr. Mohammed Sheidu to serve as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, effective immediately, in a bid to enhance the operational capacities of law enforcement agencies.
