In a bid to address the ongoing nationwide strike, the Federal Government, through the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, has extended an invitation to the organised labour for a meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

Despite an appeal by the leadership of the National Assembly during a mediation meeting between the unions and government representatives, the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress remained resolute in their decision to proceed with the strike on Monday.

The strike, which commenced on Monday, resulted in the paralysis of economic and government activities across various states.

Ministries, departments, agencies, and critical sectors such as courts, government secretariats, airports, and schools were brought to a standstill.

While some bank branches remained closed, a few in Lagos continued operations amidst the strike.

The primary bone of contention leading to the strike is the inability of labour to accept the N60,000 minimum wage offered by the Federal Government.
