ASTPA inaugurates exco, BoT members, moves to empower youths

The Anambra State Towns People Association (ASTPA) in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has recently sworn – in and inaugurated its newly elected executive members while three members: Rev Godwin Okonkwo, Lawrence Ojemeni and Engr Emmanuel Anosike were inducted into its Board of Trustees (BoT).

In his welcome address and acceptance speech, the re -elected President General (PG), Chief Arinze Anadu disclosed the intention of the Association to embark on youths’ empowerment for unemployed Anambra youths, just as he urged any interested youth to among other, come with his/her credentials, community’s name, and chose the area of interest to be trained.

in this regard, he went on, ASTPA would
partner more with the government, companies and captains of industries to achieve the noble project, even as he spoke at length on the need for the well – to -do people among Ndi Anambra to collaborate with the Association to achieve the noble project.

While announcing that there was no winner or looser at the last election where he was reelected, be enjoins all to join hands with the new executive to move the Association forward. When he came on board, according to him, he came with the agenda of transparency, responsiveness, members welfares, reconciliation and conducive meeting venue. Others were time management, youths and members skill acquisition, relationship with the government and constitution review.

Disclosing that ASTPA under his watch acquired land, in Nando Anambra state, for ASTPA Model Estate, the PG added that he had been organising Anambra Day, to promote unity, peace and rich culture of the people of Anambra state. He however boasted that one of the themes of his Anambra Day celebration, Aku Ruo Ulo, literally meaning, Invest Homeward, has started since motivating Umu Anambra within and outside Nigeria to invest homeward.

He however advised the newly inducted BoT members and the old ones to collaborate, toward giving the members of the executive and ordinary members fatherly advice for the Association to move forward.

Welcoming the newly inducted BoT members, their Chairman, Chief James Agubalu assured them of smooth cooperation, as well as appealed that they join in moving the Association forward. Agubalu charged the executive members for performance and listening to advice. He further advised all to always keep to the law and involve God in everything, which if done would go a long way .

The occasion was chaired by the representative of AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Chinedu Obika.

Calling for patronizing Anambra indigenes in the FCT, the CEO, Chelsea Group of Companies, Chief Patrick Chidolue, a BoT member, said no matter how small, it would go a long way for the person patronized, even as he informed that other tribes, states, associations and groups do the same thing.

Pledging the BoT members’ support to the executive and urging members to do so, he however hailed the executive for securing a vast area of land for members in Nando, Anambra state, even as he appealed to the executive, to secure land that would be affordable to the low income earners. This he said would go a long way.

One of the inductees, Rev Okonkwo pledged to do everything within the reach of the law and power of God to support the Association’s BoT and the executive, noting that with strict adherence to the law and involvement of God in everything in the support to members of the executive, the BoT and the Association’s members in general, the sky, according to him would be the Association’s limit. He reiterated at length on the need to involve God in everything, which if done would go a long way.

The occasion was chaired by the representative of AMAC)Bwari Federal Constituency of the FCT, Hon Chinedu Joshua Obika. On his remark, he spoke at length on the need to be promoting peace, unity, love, which according to him would enhance progress, even as he reminded members that Anambra as the light of the nation, leads, while others follow. Obika however hailed the members and those who contested different positions, for going about everything with understanding, even as he pledged support to the executive. Hon Chinedu Joshua Obika, therefore commended the executive for performance and urged them to do more, saying that to whom more is given, more is expected.

The event witnessed honouring of the former PGs and some members were also considered, on merit, which was conducted by a former PG, Chief Emeka Mbagha.
