The Bill 2024, seeks to revert to the old national anthem, “Nigeria, we hail thee”.

While presenting the report, the senate committee chairman on Judiciary Human Rights and Legal Matters, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno Borno North, said his committee disagreed with the position of Prince Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), and Minister of Justice, that the process to change the anthem should be subjected to a wider process.

After clause by clause consideration of the bill, Senate passed the bill for the third reading.

Now the piece of the legislation awaits only assent into law by President Bola Tinubu.
