Speaking to journalists today, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, underscored a notable enhancement in the security landscape of the FCT, following a closed-door security meeting with the Senate at the National Assembly.

Wike expressed confidence in the progress made, citing a reduction in criminal activities within the FCT.

He also announced the apprehension of two high-profile kidnappers, further bolstering the region’s security efforts.

He also said that while achieving complete eradication of crime is challenging, concerted efforts by the FCT Administration and security agencies continue to mitigate security risks and safeguard residents’ lives and property in the capital city.

Regarding the complexities of kidnapping incidents, the Minister hinted at potential internal involvement, suggesting that some cases may be orchestrated by individuals within households. He assured the public of ongoing efforts by security agencies to secure the safe release of kidnapped victims.

Accompanying the Minister at the briefing were key security officials, including FCT Commissioner of Police Benneth Igwe, FCT Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) ADG Ado Muazu, and NSCDC Commandant Olusola Odumosu.
