Tochi Wigwe, the daughter of the late Herbert Wigwe, has sparked controversy on social media after reportedly failing to stand and greet Vice President Kashim Shettima.

An online user identified as Sadiq Jibrin Gadah took to social media to call out Tochi for what he perceived as a lack of respect towards Shettima during a recent event organized to mourn her father, mother, and brother.

The tragic deaths occurred in a helicopter crash while en route to the Super Bowl.

In his post, Sadiq shared photos showing former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and businessman Aliko Dangote standing to greet Shettima.

He criticized Tochi, stating, “Same Man, different regard.
Whoever that girl is, she lacks proper home training. You don’t shake a person old enough to be your father while sitting down.”

However, not all social media users agreed with Sadiq’s assessment. Some came to Tochi’s defense, highlighting the difficult circumstances she was facing. Abubakar commented, “You don’t need to have an opinion on everything, sir. She might be wrong, but I’m sure Mr. VP will understand that she’s at her lowest moment. She has recently lost both her parents, and the reason for him being there is to commiserate with her and the family. Let’s avoid judging people.”

Similarly, Nabilah urged empathy, stating, “Do you people think at all? This lady just lost three of her family, and you are here chasing clout over her not standing up to greet someone.”

Phoenix emphasized the emotional toll of Tochi’s losses, remarking, “When you lose your parents and a sibling in one day, you can greet people the way you like at their funeral service.”

Another user, Lagos Cinematographer, suggested a different perspective, speculating, “It appears she was about to get up but she got caught in the process, which is why you’ll notice their hands haven’t made contact.”
