CDS Vows to Deal with Advocates of Coup

In a staunch reaffirmation of the Nigerian military’s allegiance to democracy, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, declared an unwavering commitment to thwart any attempts at destabilizing the country through a coup d’état.

Speaking at the inauguration of the main entrance of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, and Officers Transit Accommodation, General Musa underscored the military’s resolve to protect the nation’s democratic institutions.

Describing those advocating for a coup as “enemies of Nigeria,” General Musa warned that the full force of the law would be brought upon them.

He emphasized that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remained vigilant and prepared to defend democracy at all costs.

“While acknowledging that the country was going through some challenges,” General Musa stated, “coup was never an option.” He highlighted the progress and development achieved under democratic governance, asserting that any deviation from democracy was detrimental to Nigeria’s well-being.

General Musa urged citizens to exercise patience and support the government’s efforts to address the nation’s challenges, emphasizing that unity was crucial to overcoming adversity. He assured Nigerians that despite the current difficulties, the country would emerge stronger, with the collective efforts of its people.
