7th Nasarawa Assembly : Lawmakers canvasses another term for Speaker ***sets to hold valedictory session May 31st, 2023

AS the 6th Nasarawa state House of Assembly winds down it legislative procedures to herald the reconstitution of the 7th assembly, the lawmakers has advocated the return of the incumbent Speaker, Rt.

Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi as Speaker of the 7th Assembly for peace, stability and progress of the House and the State.

The lawmakers who spoke through the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Mohammed Adamu Omadefu, said the speaker’s leadership has achieved a lot in the areas of harmony, peace, stability between the legislative arm and the executive.

According to the Chairman, house committee on information, “I think for stability in the legislative duties and stability in the state, there is the need for continuity not only for the House, but the state at large hence the need for the call of his continuity.

Omadefu, who is a member representing Keana Constituency said while briefing Journalists on the activities of the present 6th Assembly that re-electing Balarabe as Speaker for the 7th Assembly would also bring speedy development to the state

” Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi is a man of integrity and pedigree. He has done well and deserves another term.

” In the history of the House, Speaker Balarabe passed the highest number of bills into law considering the fact that law making is the fundamental of legislative arm.

” First Assembly passed 33 bills, 2nd assembly 20 bills, 3rd Assembly 31bills, 4th Assembly 45bills,5th Assembly 48bills and 6th Assembly 61bills,” he said.

The information chairman said that Balarabe has performed well, hence the need for the call for his return as the 7th assembly Speaker to consolidate on lawmaking in Nasarawa state.

” He stabilize the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, no rancour, no party differences, peace and unity remains the order of the day. He enhance effective relationship between Executive and Legislature as well as the Judiciary, cleared suspicious doubts existed between Executive and Legislators he inherited as a result of impeachment moved by the 4th Assembly against Gov. Al-makura,” he said.

Hon Omadefu called on the people of the State to have faith in the assembly and the government of Engr. Abdullahi Sule and continue to pray and give their maximum support to the arms of government in the State to succeed.

Meanwhile, Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has identified with workers in the State and acknowledged their giant contributions in administration and governance in the state

The speaker while describing Nasarawa Workers as engine room of the government, promised to make the legislative arm of the government a dependable platform that would galvanized the welfare of the workers in the state.

The speaker in a statement by Press Secretary, Jibrin Gwamna congratulated Nasarawa workers on the unique day, describing them as hardworking, understanding and patriotic citizens.

He also commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for the implementation of workers promotion, prompt payment of salaries, pension and gratuity for retirees and the ongoing employment of casual workers in the State among others.

The Speaker also acknowledged the support of workers to the government of the day just as he congratulated the new State NLC Chairman, Comrade Ismaila Yakubu Okoh and his executive members for the successful conduct of election and emergence.
