58 years man arrested for allegedly dropping Gov. Sule’s name, swindles unsuspected public of N17 million

Operatives of the Nigeria police Command attached to the state Criminal Investigation Department in Nasarawa state have arrested one Shuaibu Isiaka (AKA Ziko) of Tudun Gwandara, Lafia Local government area for using the name of Governor Abdullahi Sule to allegedly defraud unsuspected public of over N17 million.

Shuaibu Isiaka was arrested following a petition filed against him for allegedly obtaining money under false pretense from the victim under the guise of being offered a contract by the Nasarawa state government.

The suspect upon interrogation according to a statement by the public Relations Officer of the police Command, DSP Ranham Nansel and made available to Journalists in Lafia on Sunday, the suspect has confessed to the commission the crime.

According to the statement, the suspect has admitted that the amount obtained from the victim was fourteen million and not Seventeen million as alleged in the petition.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada has ordered a thorough investigation into the case and tasked the investigators to go after anyone found to be connected to the commission of the offence, no matter how highly placed.

The CP according to the statement has thereafter urged members of the public to be wary of smooth-criminals who have mastered the act of talking about famous people to impress on the suspected members of the public.

“I want to members of the public to be wary of smooth talk criminals who have mastered the act of talking about famous people to impress on their victims in order not to fall prey to their antics”, the statement added.
