Ada Ehi’ Definitely!

The song of Ada Ehi “Definitely” is a blast with great lyrics and rhythm anybody can dance with a twist of the body . I first heard it on the status of my estranged friend. It made deep sense, I had to play it severally, still I couldn’t get enough of it.

I fell in love with every word in that song but these: Nothing is missing, nothing is broken, I am complete in the name of Jesus , I have a new song.

These are words that have flexibility of meaning. Like homophones, same sound , different spelling and meaning. It takes explanation and context to understand their meaning.

I know many would most likely disagree with me, due to their emotional connection to the wordings of the song. No wahala. This is a free world and creativity without controversy isn’t one.

The truth is, authentic life isn’t lived on the realm of emotions and sentiments. It is far beyond it, into the realm of reasoning and critical thinking.

In the book of numbers 31: 48 the officers who were over thousands of the army, the Captains of thousands and Captains of hundreds came to Moses and said to him “Your servants have counted the men of war who are under our command, and there is not a man missing from us”

I guess Ada Ehi got her inspiration from this verse. What the Soldiers, Armies and Captains were reporting were human beings. They lost none, they were complete, none was missing. Ada Ehi’ lyrics gave me a different meaning. Her’ was not about human beings, she didn’t go to war, it was probably an expression of her walk with God, her experiences, her feelings and perhaps her emotional attachment to God.

If my assumption is correct, the truth is, nobody walks with God without losing something. No human who sincerely seeks for God’s face remains complete, no heart that beats for God remains unbroken and lastly, not all new song is a song of glory to God, some may be praises to him that rebels and disobeys.

God is same everytime but new to those who seek him diligently. He is same yesterday, today and forever, but the large dimensions of him, make humans in their limitation to be discovering him daily and it takes a heart that is incomplete to have the yearning to at all times seek for his infilling.

No complete or infilled man has the desire to seek God and no soul that seeks God passionately remains unbroken, unyielding.

Something must be broken! Something must always give way for his presence to be felt.

If I should sing that song critically, I would sing it differently, reflecting the reality of the life of a broken Christian, who is empty, seeking for the daily infilling of God, broken in righteousness, singing a new song of God’s glory, protection, love and blessing, missing out in all satanic manipulation sitting at his right hand of God in glory, for his kingdom is a state , ringing in my heart daily.

As 2024 draws to a close and 2025 dawns something must be missing in us ( lifestyle that isn’t Christ like) Something must be broken ( A reprobate heart) One must be incomplete, creating space for God’s daily infilling and our songs must be new,not any how songs, but songs that project and promote God’s kingdom.

Happy New year in advance!!
