By David Okpashi
The Nasarawa State Chapter of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC has warn ed it’s members against mudslinging statement capable of causing disafection amongst members in the state.
This is even as the Executive Committee (SEC) members of the party have argued that the emergence of Alhaji Aliyu Bello as its Chairman followed due process and the constitution of the party.
The APC state Secretary,. Yairus Dagusa told Journalists during a press conference in Lafia after a meeting of the party that contrary to the misinformation being peddled in the social media, the emergence of Aliyu Bello as Chairman of the party was in line with the electoral act and the party’s constitution.
It would be recalled that Aliyu Bello emerged the party Chairman on Wednesday, August. 30, 2023 as a replacement for the then Chairman, John Mamman who was appointed Commissioner by Governor. Abdullahi Sule.
“Bello’s emergence as the Chairman by the State Executive Committee at a meeting held on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023 as a replacement for the then Chairman, John Mamman who was appointed Commissioner by Gov. Abdullahi Sule.
The APC scribe who spoke on behalf of the SEC of the party however passed a vote of confidence on the Chairman based on his leadership style since emergence in 2023. added that the state’s leadership of the party has no intention to support a member of a different political party for governorship in 2027 as alleged.
Recalled also that some Aggrieved members of the party are calling for Aliyu Bello’s head on account of his alleged romance with a senator who had dumped APC for SDP to actualize his Senatorial ambition in 2023.
The party Chairman is also accused allegedly of double standard and anti party activities which is sparking up controversy in the party in Nasarawa state
“Senator. Wadada was a member of our great party before he joined the Social Democratic Party to actualize his senatorial ambition. He maintained a cordial relationship with the governor Abdullahi Sule and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has been a close ally of many years.
“If party differences could not separate Wadada from Mr President and the governor, why would you expect that party differences could separate Aliyu
Bello from socially relating with Wadada?” he queried.
“Contrary to this, however, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasarawa State, noticed with utter dismay, the unwarranted mudslinging statements coming from persons within and outside the party, misguided persons trying so hard to subject Our great Party to public ridicule.
“Such uncanny commentaries coming from within the Party is absolutely unhealthy, needless and capable of further dividing us especially at this crucial point where the unity and progress of the party cannot be negotiated for any personal interest or convergence of groups advancement”.
“On this note, we want to declare our unalloyed support and vote of confidence on the state Chairman. We urge all to join hands with us to build a stronger and a more united party for the benefit of all”, Dagusa added.
Earlier, during the party SEC meeting, APC Chairman of Karu Local Government Area, Mutari Samson, moved a motion for a vote of confidence on the State Chairman and was seconded by Zanuwa Buba, APC Secretary of Lafia LGA.
