Former Bauchi State governor, Adamu Mu’azu has asked Nigerians not to vote in politicians with ethnic and religious sentiments in order to discourage politics taking its root on religion, ethnic interest rather leaders with capacity and zeal to work for the country.

Mu’azu who spoke as a special guest while commissioning projects executed by Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State in Akwanga, said democracy was not growing in the country because religion and ethnicity has been allowed to decide elections of Nigerians into sensitive offices.

Mu’azu, the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National chairman appealed to Nigerians to henceforth vote politicians with the capabilities, interest to serve and grow the country and not on the basis of tribes or religion in future elections.

.

“I want you to believe that we are all human beings. We must stop absolutely, retracing our roots and for all of us to think we are human beings. Most important. Not this tribe. Not this ethnic group. Not that religion. But whoever is good, is good. There is no other word but good.

“Therefore, in the choice of your leaders from the councilors in the wards, local government chairmen, members of the state, National assembly, senators, indeed the governors, the president, you must do that devoid of any sentiments of whatever nature.

“You must elect people that will serve us, people that are humane, people that will reflect and retrace their steps and see from wherever they come, whoever you are, whatever you are, you are brought up by someone. And in the course of your life, favours were done to you by others for you to grow,” he stated.

Mu’azu commended Governor Sule for working hard to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Nasarawa State as seen in the number and quality of projects executed by his administration.

“Indeed, for me, I was not surprised. Engineer Sule was determined. And definitely encouraged by people like us. Knowing fully well his capacity, his capability, his experience, and certainly the prudence.

“I know even in his personal life, his professional life, that he has applied here. I know he was going to do wonders. I congratulate you, Mr. Governor, for doing very well in the discharge of your duty.

“For those of you who know me very well, a very critical human being, I hardly praise nobody unless you do well. And if you do well, I will never fail to say well done. Engineer Sule is an embodiment of humidity, of prudence and hard work. Embodiment of focus. Embodiment of result orientation in whatever he fixes his mind to do. I therefore congratulate the people of Nasarawa State for electing such a governor” he said.
