Some of the candidates who sat for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) optional Mock-UTME on Thursday have complained of delay in starting the examination and system failure.

One of the candidates who spoke with Aljazirah Nigeria Newspaper at the Adeola Int’l Schools JAMB (CBT) Accredited Center in Kubwa, Abuja, Khadijat Ramatu stated that she was among the first batch that was supposed to sit for the exam by 7 am adding that their examination was rescheduled after so many attempts by the operators to start up the system.

“We went in and sat down but after some hours, we were asked to leave the hall and wait until 2.

pm,” she narrated.

Also, another candidate, Agatha Iwu who went for the second batch complained of her system going off twice at the early stage while inputting her details.

Explaining the reason for the delay, the director of the center, Mrs Mercy Olaosegbe stated that the candidates were thumb printed and were in the hall around 7am but there were some glitches which made them unable to continue with the examination.

“They started around 7 am, thumb printed and went into the hall but they couldn’t start up with the examination. I heard it was a general issue due to the test running. We have rescheduled the first batch to 2 pm but the second batch has started and there was no problem thereafter,” she said.

Olaosegbe noted that apart from the issue they encountered in the first batch, the examination was going smoothly adding that the challenges encountered will help her center and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) prepare better for the main examination starting on April 29, 2023.

Also another candidate in Global Distance Learning Institute, Central Area, Abuja, Mustapha Marvelous complained of the delay in starting the examination at the exact time and the constant system failure experienced by the candidates.

However, the students agreed that the mock examination has exposed them to the rudiment of the exam and will help them a great deal during the main examination.

“I didn’t know some questions in some subjects. What I will do now is to go back and review them with my teachers so that I will come out the best in my examination,” another candidate from the center, Victoria Olawoni stated.

JAMB disclosed that about 176,408 candidates will be sitting for the 2023 UTME optional Mock-UTME
