2023 general election: Litigants Should avoid media trial – Gov.Umahi

As Presidential Election Petition Tribunal continues hearing cases filed before it by various political parties, the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi , has cautioned against media trial by any of the affected parties .

Governor Umahi who is the senator-elect from Ebonyi gave the advice in Abuja while fielding questions from Newsmen at the sideline of induction programmes conducted for Senators and Members – elect for the 10th National Assembly , said since those who felt they won the February 25 , 2023 Presidential election , have gone to court , they should allow the court to decide on merit or otherwise of their case .

He said the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC), has done a beautiful job as far as the 2023 general election were concerned which cannot be rubished by media trial

Governor Umahi noted that the National Assembly should be able to address the issue of Fake news which he said has influenced alot of insecurity in the country.

“Somebody will just seat down in his house and just dish out fake news. Those who are saying they won the election, should prove that beyond reasonable doubt in the court .
