18 Political Parties Sign Peace Accord in Kebbi

Preparatory to 2023 general election no fewer than 18 political parties have signed peace accord in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital of Kebbi state.

The peace accord signing which was held at Shagalinku hotel in Birnin Kebbi was attended by the four major governorship candidates which are Abubakar Udu Idris from peoples redemption party his counter part from the opposition peoples democratic party General Aminu Muhammed Bande, candidate of labour party Mr Gambo tarsel and a host of other candidates from accord party, National rescue movements(NRM) and the ruling All progressives candidate who was represented by the state secretary Shehu Umar Jega as the guber candidate Dr Nasir Idris was away in Shanga local government for campaigns.

Signing of the peace accord was done in the presence of Kebbi police commissioner CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora who pledged to provide security to the candidates during campaigns he also warned against breaching the peace accord as it will be met with consequences.

Earlier in his speech, the Kebbi state resident electoral commissioner, Ahmed Mahmud Bello red out 12 rules and laws governing peace accord which he promised to give each of them a copy to sign which means all of them would be held responsible for any pre or post elections violence in Kebbi state

However, out of the 18 political parties at the peace accord occasion only 11 took part in the peace deal.
