Nasarawa State House of Assembly Wednesday commenced work on the private member bill seeking the establishment of Youth development Commission in the state.

The bill which is being sponsored by Hon.

Mohammed Garba Isimbabi Thursday passed first reading at the floor of the house.

This iss even as the assembly is set to amend the state Local Government Law 2018 as bill scales first reading at the floor of the house during wednesday’s sitting.

The bill, when passed is expected to create a legal framework for the State to have Youth Development Commission that will take charge of youth affairs, reel out different programmes for youth development and implementation of youth policies among others.

“A Bill for a Law to Provide for the Establishment of Nasarawa State Youth Development Commission, Implementation of Sustainable Youth Policy and Other Matters Connected Therewith, has passed first reading at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.”.

Earlier, the sponsor of the bill and Chairman House Committee on Youths and Sports Hon. Mohammed Garba Isimbabi (APC Toto/Gadabuke Constituency) read the title of the bill before the House to scale first reading and was seconded by the Minority Leader of the House, Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba(PDP, Obi Two)

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau announced the passage of the bill into first reading after the sponsor of the bill, Hon. Mohammed Garba Isimbabi read the bill’s title for consideration at the floor of the House today.

The speaker who commended the imitator of the bill for his foresight and interest on the development of the youths in the state
slated 14th of October 2024 for second reading of the bill.

Similarly, the House passed into first reading A Bill for a Law to Amend Local Government Law 2018 and Other Matters Connected Thereto, which is being sponsored by the Chairman House Committee on LG and member representing Doma South, Hon. Musa Abubakar Ibrahim.

The sponsor of the bill Hon. Musa Abubakar Ibrahim read the title of the bill for House consideration and was seconded by Hon. Solomon AKwashiki of Lafia Central where the Speaker Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau slated 15th of October, 2024 for second reading of the bill.

In another development, a Bill for a Law to Establish Nasarawa State Road and Public Properties/Facilities Maintenance Agency, (NARPPMA) for Sustainable Development and Other Matters Connected Thereto has passed second reading.

The Bill was sponsored by Hon. Jacob Ajegena Kudu aimed at enhancing maintenance culture among citizens especially maintenance of public properties and roads to enhance development where Lawmakers made inputs on the bill with different opinions.

The Lawmakers who spoke include, Hon. Ibrahim Aliyu Nana, Hon. Musa Abubakar Ibrahim, Hon. Solomon AKwashiki, Hon. Ibrahim Peter Akwe, Hon. Muhammed Adamu Omadefu, Hon. Muhammed Garba Isimbabi, Hon. Esson Mairiga, Hon. Hudu A Hudu and Hon. Daniel Ogazi spoke extensively on their perspectives and perceptions about the bill emphasized the need to look inward to avoid duplication of responsibilities.

The Speaker, however committed the bill to the House Committee on Works and Transport, directing it to do a diligent work on the bill
